Dismantling parts on a '84 245 TI? 200 1984

Does anybody know how to take off the black bottom plastic trim that holds the carpet stationary on the door sill?

Is there anyway to take off the front fenders without a chisel?
... Do I really need to re-stop weld them back in?
... I heard of others using screws, rivets,& seam sealer instead or re-stop
welding... Is this structurally-sound?

I need to do this in order to purge all of the leaves & water out of the door jambs & rear rocker panels.

sincerely
