The quest for my brick continues.... 700

Nice looking car. There is a label on the driver's door that lists the year.

The automatic tranny for the 740 is an AW71. This is a beefier version of the AW70. There should be a tag on the drivers side of the tranny. They are supposed to be very rugged transmissions. I would look at the fluid on the tranny dipstick. If it is brown instead of clear red, change the tranny fluid per the instructions in the Haynes manual.

Taking off the head is probably an hour and at the most, two hours of work. Is any mechanic worth $200 an hour?

Most volvo four cylinder engines have a label on the timing belt cover.
