Help to a newcomer 1800 1968

Hello... I am new to the volvo scene , I recently bought a 1968 p1800 and was wondering a few things.... First, the car did not run when I bought it, I found a lot of water in the fuel system, cleaned it out and the car started right up,, It seems to be noisy from the valvetrain,,, is this common or do the valves most likely need to be adjusted? Also, the brakes did not work and there was no brake fluid in the master cylinder ( which looks new) I put fluid in it and still no brakes,,,, but after I started the car the brakes began working, any idea why?? Also, the service manual shows that the dual master cylinder had the power booster behind it,,,, this car has the power booster on the side of the engine compartment but it has a dual master cylinder,,, did some come like this??? Any help would be appreciated,, thank you...
