Knock Sensor 700 1988

Hello everyone,
My car has recently started to make a knocking noise that is relatively loud and can be primarily heard when it is just starting to drive. The noise probably continues, but I can’t hear it as much. It seems to be originating from the head. Another thing that has popped up all of a sudden is a lost in gas mileage. I use to get a 157 mile drive in less than half a tank at 65 miles an hour, now its taking about ¾ of a tank for the same trip and speed. I recently changed the fuel filter, added air to the tires, and the other things that are associated with a lost in fuel mileage. The question is…could this be my knock sensor? I mean, the engine is knocking!! Any other ideas?? BTW: if it is the knock sensor…where is it exactly on the engine?

Also I fixed that sunroof liner problem...2-ton epoxy works great!
