m46 Tranny fill plug still...... 700 1987

This sucka ain't going to come out. I am thinking of other options such as: dropping the tranny crossmember brace to gain some easier access to the top so I can access the two switches up there( backup light switch and overdrive enable switch I think). If I do manage to remove either of these switches can I fill through there? The book (Haynes 740) says that the tranny takes 2.4 U.S. quarts including the overdrive. I have not drained the O. D. and would rather not open another can of worms in January so how much fluid do you think the tranny only should be filled with if this approach works? TIA

Dan
