Tempeture control on ventilation goes cold-hotter than hades

'80 240GL - Cabin ventilation

Problem: If the temperature control slider is in the COLD position (full left), cold air comes out of the vents; this is fine. If I just tap the slider 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch to the right toward HOT, I'm hit with super hot heat. If I move the slide to HOT (full right), I practically get burned with funance levels of heat (not to say that I wouldn't need that level of heat during the winter months).

Is there a way to adjust the slider so the average temperature out across the entire slider travel is cold (left) - warm (middle) - hot (right)?

Thanks in advance.
