Timing Question.... 200

I have a timing question...

I think my timing belt may be off a tooth, but i am not sure. symptoms...

Car is great around town, has plenty of power and good pickup. On the highway it overheats, and looses power on big hills (well mountains) and really gets bogged down. the higher the speed/load the more it overheats. Never a problem at in town speeds.

My aunt (who gave me the car casue she needed one with power steering and ac and she killed the clutch cable anyway and coulnt use it) told me it only started overheating when she had the timing belt changed.

Any ideas or thoughts? Could there be air in the coolant system, or can the belt be changed without removing the rad. I tried taking out the thermostat, no differance. Would the belt being off a tooth do this. Is there a way to check the belt without ripping everything apart?

Thanks in advance, i hope we figure this one out soon.
