85' 760 turbo int. distributer head firing combination..... 700

I recently purchased a 4 cyl. 85' 760 turbo intercooled Volvo. The last service (before purchase)was carried out by a non approved or specilist Volvo mechanic.
I find that the car is iddling roughly, and is not producing as much power as I would have expected.
Could somebody please give some information as to the firing system on the distributer head as I believe the plugs are incorrectly attached.
The firing order is 1342 at the plugs. Is the firing order on the distributer head 1234 in a clockwise direction, or 4312 as it is attached now?
I have contacted several Volvo mechancs who have all given me different advice!

I would be grateful if someone could give me the correct sequence on he distributer head.
