Motor Block Date 700

Philip
I know where to look for the head date, but where is the motor block date? I've got an 88 700 and all I've been able to find is the "K". I want to build a later version short-block to replace my old (270,000km) unit. I was planning on 1st oversize pistons, maybe shotpeening the rods, a good balance and a new oil pump. The other option is to buy a remanufactured short-block.
I want a good bottom end that I can comfortably rev to 6000 at 15-17 psi boost.
