I use Sunoco Ultra "rocket fuel" exclusively and gas up both in eastern Pennsylvania and northeastern New Jersey. Subjectively my car seems to run faster on the Pennsylvania gas than on the New Jersey gas. It looks to me like the New Jersey station is in a "blue" zone, the Pennsylvania station isn't.

Chris described this phenomenon happening on a relatively low mileage 740, presumably from the Milwaukee/Chicago area ("blue").

I wonder if it's a combination of the reformulated gasoline and relatively short haul driving. I'm hoping it is the combination, because otherwise I and a slew of other people are going to need new engines. Obviously this doesn't effect the majority of people who buy things like Chevy Impalas, where the entire car has fallen apart long before it's gotten to 100k.
