My ignition lock cylinder has split...what shall I do? 140-160 1972

Hello.
The key as always been a little hard to turn, but today it didn't want to turn...so I looked at it and saw that the cylinder has already split... so I put some oil into it and it works now. But I'd like to know if it will get worst and is it possible to just buy the cylinder instead of buying the whole mechanism? Or if there is a way to fix it.
Thank you!
Anthony H.
