Buying 240 wagon 89, need advice 200

I am thinking of buying a 89 240 wagon 140K for $4000 from small non-volvo dealer. Fule injection, AT. Clean looking, no dents. All my knowledge is 544s 122s, 144s. Any sage advice? Rides like a tank, can this be improved, Problems with AT or FI? Thanks for the help. Chris
