I was going through the wiring on the 1800 this weekend - checking interior lighting and the map light, when I started wondering how hard it would be to install emergency flashers in the car. As this is my daily driver emergency flashers would be nice to have if they were every needed.
Anyway looking at the wiring diagrams of the turn signal unit, I see that power is supplied to the flasher unit, then to the turn indicator switch, and out to the correct turn lamp. My thought was that if you spliced into the wire from the flasher to the turn indicator switch, then to the new emergency flasher switch, and then ran two wires to the left and right wire exiting the turn indicator switch you would have created the correct electrical connections.
The second thought would be to spilce into the power supply side of the flasher unit, install a second flasher unit, and then continue with the new switch and wire hook up above. This would give you a seperate flasher unit for the signals and emergency flashers.
The reason I didn't try first and ask later is that I don't want the car to burn up. Does the logic above seem correct or am I way out in left field somewhere???
