Early Stall 700 1988

Ever since I have had my car, it has had a strange startup problem. Just about every time I start the car in the morning or after I haven't driven it for a while, the car either stalls immediately after startup or it will idle a bit and when I go to change gears, it dies out. The next time I go to start it up, it runs just fine.
Its never died while driving. I have adjusted the idle control screw. I have cleaned the fuel system out. I have cleaned the intake manifold. I have cleaned the flame trap (which it still is leaking oil from the cap) I don't think its the Fuel Pump Relay because it doesn't die after I drive it for a bit.
Anyway, its becoming a larger problem with the fact that its just a nuisance.
Any clues to what it would or could be?
Thanks again.
