Sure sounds like the core. The coolant is probably running down under the carpet and pooling somewhere. Do yourself a favor and buy the green OEM heating and cooling system manual for about $35 before you do this job: it is amply illustrated and makes it go much easier. Major sub-dash disassembly required.
