driver door frozen 700 1989

hi,

today as i tried to open my doors with the key, the driver's door somehow got stuck somewhere inside the door. It simply didn't close anymore, the hook that should 'grab' the door when you slam it, didn't hook it. well, i could not certainly drive with a door open so i tried to fix it, took the trim away and tried to add lome lubricant (WD-40), as it is FREEZING outside. no help, and the key didn't turn counterclockwise to lock the doors again.

finally after 2 hours in cold i somehow managed to get it working again, i did not reattach the trim as i believe that i need a thorough cleaning or smth to be done inside there.

so 2 questions:
what should i add as a lubricant in order the parts (locks and the system) would not freeeze anymore?
how is the trim removal/reattach done correctly?
+
should there be about 1.5" bars inside the doors similar to the one's i've seen in the 240s?

happy rolling,

mark
