Boge Struts / Spacers 200

I acquired an '85Turbo. I bought a pair of Boge Turbo Gas struts. When I removed the old "cheap aftermkt." struts a large thick "washer" appeared as it dinged on the driveway. The other side did not have this. I have no idea where in the sequence of assmbly the washer was. After ignoring it and reassymbling I read something about the Boge requiring spacer kits. My guess is that when the old struts were installed the installer left the spacer out on one side and used it on the other. Can anyone tell me where it goes? It fits over the threaded end and stops on the shoulder or does it go down in the tube below the strut?

Thanks,
Mark H.
