Tires installed 'inside-out' 700 1990

Asymmetrical tires must be mounted only one way. All other talk is just bullshit. You take them back and tell them to follow the directions. If there is a remote possibility that the mounting directions are actually stamped wrong, which I highly doubt, you can usually tell from the tread which should flare 'back' from the leading center of the tread as the tire rolls forward. This is much more obvious on some treads than others. I've looked at your tire on the TireRack site, and frankly, it's hard to tell. Take look at Bridgestone 950's and it will be very evident. I'd still go with what is printed on the tire.
