780 Cowl Panel? 700 1990

Paul - I've had three of these off and in each case I removed the bolts, the wiper arms, and the rubber grommets around the wiper spindles. With that apart, a small pull forward should bring it off, there are hooks on the back corners, do not try to pry the back off.

When you do get the cowl cover off, note thar the mesh grill is only held on by some black goo. If this loses its grip, the mesh falls down and lots of nasty debris gets into the cowl area.

I obtained a strip of this goo from my dealer, (I got this for free as I get along real well with the parts department)cleaned the old goo off the mesh and cowl cover with paint thinner, and remounted the mesh with new goo. I also put 8 nylon zip strips around the mesh and the bars above to assure that the mesh will not fall down. If you apply the strips from below and use a color that matches your car, no one will notice them. The first cowl mesh that I repaired this way has been trouble free for 5 years now.

Put the cowl cover back on with care as it is possible to mess up the foam spacers on both ends.
