M47 tranny into pre-86 245? 200

I have an '82 245 with an M46 4-speed+OD and a trashed OD unit. My local boneyard has lots of Volvos with M47 5-speed transmissions, and I'd like to install one in my car and do away with the OD. I know the M47 is basically an M46 with a fifth gear housing bolted to the back, so I'm guessing the clutch, throwout bearing, etc. is the same as the M46. Is this correct? Are the driveshafts different and, if so, will a driveshaft from an M47-equipped 245 bolt into my '82? Also I realize that the '86 and later cars had electric speedometers. The diagram and photos in my Haynes 240 manual show an M47 tranny with a cable speedo drive. The drive is cast into the aluminum end plate that bolts to the back of the fifth gear housing, and the cable is driven off a gear on the output shaft. Do all M47 trannies have the speedo drive gear inside on the output shaft and the speedo drive housing cast into the end plate? I do a lot of highway driving, and the likelihood of a boneyard OD unit working perfectly seems small, so I thought a 5-speed would solve the problem nicely and be a simpler setup once installed. Has anybody done this swap?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated
Colin
