I got codes,now what?? 200 1989

Last month I changed plugs, wires, cap and O2 sensor. The car ran great and milage was around 22-23mpg highway. Now,while it still is running O.K., I got a 2-3-2, 1-1-3, and 2-2-3 code and milage dropped to 15-16mpg. Could the O2 be bad already?Or is the AMM going? What the heck is the lambda? Is this a common problem ? From other posts, I gather that my '89 AMM isn't a real good unit. Are they interchangable with something better? Is this milage(22-23) normal for hiway driving with an automatic? Can't afford to replace the bloody oxygen sensor every 3000 miles.Any and all suggestions/solutions are greatly appreciated.thanks
