oops - more info 700 1990

These handbrakes are notoriously weak, all the ones I've had (240s, 740, 940) take a long time to stop the car from 30 mph or so. What I usually do, with an auto tranny, is engage the handbrake and see if it will keep the car from moving in the D position. This is what they sometimes do at inspection time. Also, I park on a hill in neutral and see if the brake will hold the car.

How many clicks do you pull until you start to feel resistance? It should only be a few clicks.

Hope this helps!
Greg
