Overdrive, Dtype 444-544

Anyone know what power a D type overdrive can cope with? Got on that slips as soon as the engine gets on cam. I think it is simply overpowering the cone clutch. The car has a very short axle(4.8), hot cam 296 degree duration, nothing much below 2500 and because of the short gearing the overdive is operating in the power band.

By the way it doesn't have knackered seals, they're all new, the clutch is re-lined and there are no obvious faults with any of the valves.

Regards

Pete
