Loudly Humming New Fuel Filter 200 1980

Just put in a new fuel filter and it like the old one has started to hum loudly as well. Audible from inside the car . Was going to just turn up the stereo but thought of checking it out before it dies on me.
Thinking it might be related to fuel feed pump as the car is also skipping somewhat and randomly.Main fuel pump was recently replaced.
