One last probelm to throw into the mix. . .erratic idle 200

another odd problem that has cropped up as of late is a wierd idle when i first start the car. when i first start it and let it idle, the engine fluctuates rhythmically between about 750 and 1000 rpm. after i drive away, i come to a red light, and it's just fine. not even a slight variance in rpm. any ideas for this latest problem? (i'm driving about 1200 miles next weekend, and i can't have anything going wrong!!!!)
