Seat Interchangeability? 700

I just picked up a right front seat from a 1989 740 that is better than my current right front seat, but much better than my left front seat. It looks like the seat could be bolted onto the left front seat track, but it would then have the lumbar and rake adjustment on the console side instead of the door side. It doesn't look like there is much to be done about the lumbar adjustment, since that comes throguh a hole in the upholstery. I would like to know if it is possible to remove the rake adjustment rod and gear, and remount it from the opposite side.

Has anyone had any success doing this?
