reverse lights not working 200 1987

Don't know if you've got an automatic or the M47. On my M46 transmissions, there's a switch which lives on the upper right edge of the trans. A wire plugs in there. Sometimes it's a bad switch, sometimes the wire disconnects. I'm pretty sure that the M47 has a similar switch/wire arrangement. Cross your fingers that the wire just came unplugged. It's a 30 second fix. Can't offer any wisdom if you've got an automatic.
