Howdy Y'all,
I have a B-230F non-turbolated sedan. The a/c switch in the dash is stuck on but the comp.doesn't engage in the winter, so it is activated with the thermo. I removed the pusher fan and the mechanical fan replacing them with a GM elect. fan. I used the plugs from the pusher to thermo/control the GM fan. I am providing this info in case it makes a difference in diagnosis. All was fine until the engine had quick dips in power. As if the power was interupted for just a split second. I cleaned the RPM sensor plug and added dialectic grease.
Last night at a stop light the SRS light came on as well as the OD arrow (auto-trans).The lights dimmed and the power dropped. The motor ran and the tach bounced around giving false readings. I stopped, tried to restart and the batt. was dead. I had a power pack and jumped the car. Everything A-OK. A few miles ahead it happened again, this time the car would barely run even with the lights off. I thought the Alt was bad. I stopped, killed it, and jumped the motor. This time the motor dropped power as soon as the power pack was removed. I turned off the motor and let the power pack sit looking around for anything unusual. Knowing the fan would draw I unplugged it hoping to limp home with whatever power I could get. I started it and I had all the power in the world!
The batt. charged and is find! What should I ck. now? I have read the sections in the FAQ 7/9 but can't seem to find particular cause.
Thanks,
Mark
