Do I really have traction control? 900 1993

This is my first winter with my 93 940 Turbo WGN, and I thought I had traction control, but I wonder how I can really tell? I was just parked on ice, where I could watch my left rear wheel spin each time I shifted into Drive (just from idle speed ... and faster spin when given gas. The left side never stopped spinning, and I could not tell if control was transferred to the right side as well. Also, I don't seem to have any more traction than I had with my old 86 745. I would appreciate any info and thoughts about traction control. Thanks much.
