Overdrive, Dtype 444-544

The uni directional clutch is OK it is fine in non overdrive mode. Upping the oil pressure seems to have done the trick, though I'm worried that if I take that to extremes I'll start to distort the cone clutch assembly itself. I upped it to about 560 icy cold, which means about 500PSI when the unit is really hot. This car is going rallying and there is a 4 hour night section round the mountains of Monte Carlo. Do you have any views on oil pressure?

Incidentally there are 2 different Dtype valve housings, one drop to 40 psi when disengaged, the other runs full pressure alll the time. Do you know whih is which?

I've seen the annulus in a D type sheared where the splines start for the output flange, I'm hoping to avoid that sort of thing!

There are actually two different adaptors for the D type overdrive, aluminium, and cast iron. I imagine the latter is the stronger, but have not as yet managed to break one. Saw one broken on a 120 that had been rolled though.

Hope you survived the weather reasonably intact?

Regards

Pete
