120mph speedo-really??

I don't recall the RPM, and if I did have a tach at that time, I'm not sure I would have been looking at it. I don't recall the engine working all that hard. It wasn't like doing 80mph+ in 4th gear up hill. I did that once when 5th gear topped out a 75mph, but in 4th I could do 80 at somewhere over 4000rpm.

I wonder if the tall gearing has anything to do with the shorter lifespan of the M47? I know it doesn't help. I see a 3.73 rear gear in my distant future.
