Compression in '88 745Ti 700 1988

Hello

I've been poking around the engine bay of my '88 745Ti that may be going under the knife for a head r&r in a week or so- I was thinking I would replace the mechanical cooling fan with an electric model so I removed the fan and shroud.
While loosening one of the nuts securing the fan assembly to the water pump pulley I turned the pulley, belts, AND crank.

Once the fan was off, I found that I could grab the water pump pulley with both hands and turn the motor over by hand. I'm not he-man, and I pulled the oil filler cap to be certain I was moving the cam too. Yep. Car hadn't been run in about a week at that point. I know the factory spec for a turbo motor is much lower than a na motor. This motor has about 150K on it.

So, should I think hard and long about re-ringing the pistons, or could the cylinder head leak I'm suspecting I have be the source of low compression? Or is this sort of compression normal? The car was still quick when I parked it- one of the fastest Volvos I've driven...

Thanks for any input-

Dylan
