240 GL engine hood 200 1982

I'm trying to find out what year(s) engine hoods will fit on my 1982 240GL. I was told at a wrecking yard that years 77-82 are the only ones, but later ones at least look like they'll fit. Mine has the rather large extension over the grille. Also, would it help things if I change over the sheet metal cross-piece that the hood latches onto? Mine's bent anyway, so I'm looking for a replacement, like a hood/crossmember set, so the more years that are compatible, the better. Thanks in advance.
