wiper wiring 200 1984

I got in my '84 240 the other day and discovered that my wipers are on whenever the ignition is on. I'm sick of driving around with my steering column disassembled, and having to plug in the switch to use the wipers. The intermittent function doesn't work, and I've been told that the "park" circuit on the wiper moter has failed, and thats why the motor won't turn off. I tried replacing both the wiper switch (inside) and the motor unit, with junkyard replacements, with no change. Was the motor out of the junkyard bad, or do I have a wiring problem? I have had other strange electrical problems caused by brittle insulation/shorts, and know it's common. I took apart the motor, and cant find anything that looks worn or broken, and for that matter, cant figure out the "park" (rest/off) position circuit or mechanism. Any one out there consider themselves a wiper expert? Thanks for any advice, Matt S
