Plastic Or Steel ?(Radiator) 900 1995

I remember seeing some notes on this some time ago and read the FAQs, but would appreciate the latest thinking on replacing the OEM radiator. I just noticed that my 965 has been "weeping" coolant out of the upper radiator tank just in front of and below the inlet connection. I've heard stories about steel lasting about the same as plastic. Is this true? I assume that the radiator hoses should be replaced at the same time, but what about the heater hoses or other components?
