Great deal - Or is it??? 200

Hello!

My quest for a solid euro-beater to be my second car has lead me to a quite sturdy looking '86 240 DL. However, my previous Volvo experiences have come from Amazon's & 142's, so I am a little bit lost with this one. I know those old tanks with the indestructible B20 could take quite a beating, but how about this "new" technology with all these fancy electronics and all...

The individual that I am looking at seems to have 126 thousand miles on the clock, and the motor identified itself as the B230F (from what I gathered from various sources the block is the same as B20, right?). Now, my question is, what are the soft spots in these? Someone mentioned a timing belt, so I suppose this is yet another damned rubberband-engine. What's the cost of a replacement in the US? Sigh, back home you could pretty much order a complete vehicle as parts from a Bilhelvete... ahem, biltema catalogue (=Scandinavian JC Whitney).

Let me know what to look for... really hoping to get this one, can't wait to dismiss my sister-in-law's comments about Volvos as jealousy. I guess there's just not enough of these sleek & aerodynamic roadsters to go around, some of us have to get stuck in a Mustang GT.. ;-P
