What would it take to remove door drim? 700 1985

Hi everyone. I've noticed that the exterior trim that runs horizontally along my doors is starting to come off. I can't quite tell what's wrong with it, but it's as if the plastic clips are just letting go. I've tried to "quick fix" this with double sided tape with no success. The wind always lifts up the leading edge and slides the entire piece rearward. I know that this would be easy enough to fix by simply removing the trim and replacing the plastic clips, (at least that's what I'm assuming), but what do you think it would take to remove this trim entirely? We're talking remove the trim and then fill/paint where the attachment holes are. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.
