HELP HELP, water coolant leak from ACC worse 900 1993

Hi Gustaf,

It is likely that the heater core is leaking at the brass tubes, that protude through the firewall from the heater core into the engine bay. These tubes are attached to the heater core and are soldered for reinforcement. They are a weakness and can not be repaired without removal from under the dash. My 93 945 is awaiting repair for a leaking heater core, I'm sure I will find this to be the problem when I eventually dig it out.

The car can be made driveable by removing the heater hoses from the firewall and placing a metal tube inside the removed ends as a joiner to form a loop back into the engine. This bypasses the heater core therefore no coolant in the cabin. Use circular clamps to secure the hoses to the metal tube. You will have no heating apart from your seats. No problem in Australia at the moment as we are in summer.

FCP Groton have this core, which is common to all 740s, for $110.

Hope this is of some help.
