Volvo 122s page updated, finally...

14mpg?? That's brutal.
Wonder if you could retrofit an early D-jet system to the car. That has to be good for a few mpg, and maybe a bit more "oomph." OTOH, performance guys (across all makes) tend to prefer carbs for some reason. I know absolutely nothing about them, and only understand how FI works in theory. Trouble-shooting? Forget it, unless it's something glaringly obvious like a dead fuel pump or air flow sensor.

Volvo's gearing...I've always wondered why the rear axle ratio is so low on the 544/122. What is it, like 4.56? Stock motors have no low-end torque? If the car has a Dana rear end, maybe you could swap in a 3.31:1 gearset from a 240. Would probably zap peformance though...
