easy tailgate wiring question 200

I know this subject has been addressed here many times, but I have one simple question. Which side, driver or passenger, to the wires for the rear wiper motor go through? Everything else back there is working, and the wires seem intact, so I only want to fix the one side. I am pretty sure it is the wiring because the wiper works if the tailgate is up. Probably going to reroute around the hinge. Thanks
