960 Hot Start / Hi Idle / Flashing Arrow Problems 900

After 196K i don't mind a few problems but this is getting expensive and mentally painful. After the local Volvo service group and an independent Volvo service center sat there and scratched their "?*#^>@* for five weeks I simply replaced the fuel pressure regulator ( 5 minutes & $114), great! Solved that problem. Now, car cranks and runs great when cold, but stop at the store and try to crank it 5 minutes later and you have to wait an hour. Sometimes the Flashing arrow is on and the ESW switch flashes. When the arrow flashes, it seems to go into the "safe drive" mode. Turn the car off and then all works fine but still flashes. When it idles hi, I simply disconect the idle control motor, plug it back up and drive, idles at 500 rpm but runs fine. What would would give me a warm start problem? The problem is intermittent and not consistant. I refuse to take it back to The Volvo circus and let those clowns claim it's the "airmass meter" again ($575 plus labor). Checked the faq, can't really find the right answer.
