Coolant leak at the water pump seal to the cylinder head 900

I probably have 60k on this pump. It was German-made and came in an orange box from a local reputable foreign car parts store. I got a great deal and only paid about $30 for it. I just noticed a slight leak at this seal. I hate to change the pump for this problem, but I don't think I have a choice. I never used RTV sealant, or any gasket sealer for these water pumps. Usually install them 'dry'. This is my second high-mileage four cylinder so I am pretty good at changing these. Is this common to aftermarket water pumps? Should I pull the pulley off, loosen the bolts, and slip on some RTV? It's about time to change my timing belt. I just picked up a Gates brand for the car a few weeks ago but I wasn't planning to change the pump until I had to. I think you guys are gonna tell me to 'chuck' the water pump.
