loose in the stays...speed bump technique 700

When you go over speed bumps, cross them at an angle.

I ease my car over to the center of the road, then steer quickly to hit the bump at an angle. It works better if the car has leveled out before you hit the bump.

When you hit a speed bump straight, you try to toss one end of the car up in the air, then all that weight comes down hard.

If you go over the bump at an angle, one wheel at a time is tossed up, and hopefully your suspension will absorb most of the bump. Certainly, all of the weight of one end of your car is not coming down hard.

Most vehicles have an optimum angle of attack. If you find the proper angle for a particular bump, the car will go over the bump sweetly.

This technique really works well on a relatively heavy vehicle like a fire truck, especially since many of them have 2/3rds of their weight on the rear wheels.
