as far as the bulbs, classic symptom of moisture..find source and seal.

if you have a blown head gasket (white smoke is a good indication) then you will either have water in the oil (looks like white milky residue on dip stick) or you will have oil in the water/coolant. You may have enough water in oil to cause friction, equating to heat. Or, your rad is clogging with oil and additives. Check the oil and the water, they will tell you a lot.
