Taillight reverse lens reattachment 200

Hi
hope everyone is doing well

I was going to clean my sunroof drains, and ran into the problem of the reverse lens coming off the tailight housing. When I finally got everything I needed to re-adhere the lens, as I was putting it on it broke :( if it is the original, it sure lasted a long time. I have a replacement on the way from iPd and I dont want to break that one too.

What is the best procedure to put it back in?
I have deburred the sealing surfaces somewhat, yet the main problem is the tension. As I was attempting to put the lens back in, the tension between the lens and the spacers between the lens was very tight even though the lens was removed easily. Go figure.

thanks
take care
