M46 into a '92? 200

I'm planning on looking at a 1992 black 245 in the next day or two. Apparently in excellent condition with 125,000 miles. He wants $3900, which as is, would be a steal. The reason I'm thinking about it is because I'd like to swap transmissions. The M46 into the '92 and the AW71 into my current '86.
If all goes well, I can sell the '86 at a profit and have a much better car. How feasible is my plan? And if I went through with the purchase, would anyone like to come over and help?
