I never thought this would be able to happen..... maybe a solution to NA conrods breaking? Sorta Long! 700 1988

Hey all,
Okay, well, had my car smash repaired the other day, took nearly 2 weeks. Everythings slow in australia. for that whole time they had the AMM disconnected with the connector lying there in the engine bay. Naturally, they sanded, it must've got wet. Several times. Now, driving, about 2 weeks later (it's been damp and moist here), my car started running like a spastic monkey. I've take off, and the car would buck and buck, not go very far, run very rough, the all of a sudden everything would be fine.... this all happened within about 10k's. Now, i was sitting at a round about to drive out, and the idle got lower and lower, quickly, then the car stopped. A smooth stop, not a rough "chug". I popped the bonnet a little (something must've been touching the connector) and it started about about 10 seconds. I drove off and around the corner. I left the car idling and played with a few connectors, wiggling the connector showed that the amm connector wasn't making a proper connection. Now! I Revved the car, and heard the biggest *crack* i think i've ever heard a car make. Detonation. How could that happen while running 98 octance fuel? Because the AMM was showing through the connector (high resistance at the connector and bad contacts) that the car was sucking in alot less air than it really was. I cleaned the contacts, pushed them closer, and hooked it back up, and the car has run perfectly since. i mean, NOTHING wrong. Thank god i didn't break a conrod..... I'd be rather upset! But, i think this should become something that EVERYONE makes sure is a perfect connection. Maybe *just maybe* thats a reason for some of the NA (maybe even turbo?) car's breaking conrods for no reason what so ever? Thanks for listening all, i just *HIGHLY* recommend you use contact grease on it and makes sure it's okay!
