What would it take to remove door drim? 700 1985

I have an '85 740 and was thinking about removing the trim for styling reasons as well as the fact that it was starting to come off in some places. The trim is held on by plastic clips that are probably easy to replace and not terrable expensive as the others have indicated and would probably be a very simple job. To remove the trim for good for a sleeker look you will have to take off the trim, very easy, and then fill in the dime sized holes in the door. I'm not sure the best way to fill the holes in, possibly a body filler but without anything behind the opening in the sheet metal of the door the filling may not be very strong. You may have to apoxy or some how afix a plate to the inside of the door by way of removing the interior door panel and then build up the exterior surface of the door to level once the backing panel is fermly in place. You would then have to sand down the body filler and then paint the area and possibly the while door to make it look smooth. The second option will surely take a lot more effort and more money but thats the price of having a customized look to your volvo. Good luck in either project and if you are thinking about the second option I salute you for your comitment to the art of customizing volvos, a daunting task.
