Radio swap from hell - long post - sorry 700

Is the amp powering-up? I pulled my hair out trying to figure out why I only got faint sound, until I realized the amp was fed through a seperate fuse from that of the radio. In the case of an 89 740, the amp is powered through one of the transversly mounted fuses along the lower edge of fuse panel. I thought it was a spare and had pulled it out one day to use in another spot.
