So, I'm driving to VT last night and, as usual, my shift light keeps going on or indicating upshift in totally inappropriate conditions. Subsequently, I decided to post with my experiences and see if anyone else has encountered this or has a solution.

In many instances, my shifter light comes on around 2200 rpms (who the hell shifts at 2200 and runs the car at about 1200-1500 rpms?). Additionally, it will often come on in 5th gear, and unless my 745t has a secret 6th gear (maybe with the hidden Mad Max switch?) this doesn't make sense. Finally, sometimes my shift light will stay on even AFTER I have shifted. I guess if I shift from 3200 to like 2200 (or whatever rpm level triggers the light) it would reactivate again for "optimal" shifting, but shouldn't it go off and then come back on immediately? In my case it just stays on sometimes.

Finally, I sometimes find that if I put my hand on the relay board and push down on a variety of relays it triggers the light to come on (no, I haven't tried specific relays or approached this final element scientifically).

Anyway, what's the deal with this? I've never given the shifting light much weight and have always considered it more as one of those "technological innovations" that are utterly useless, but would like it to at least work as designed (even if as designed is worthless).
